Local Activities

Wildwood Lodge is situated on State Highway 30, approximately 25 minutes from Rotorua central, 15 minutes from Rotorua Airport and 45 minutes from Whakatane. The Lodge is nestled on the shores of Lake Rotoehu, one of a cluster of lakes in the area. It is where, in 1823, Hongi Hika and his warriors paddled and dragged their canoes to fight the Arawa people on Lake Rotorua. A delightful, short 45 minute walk through Hongi’s Track, amongst native bush, replicating part of the journey, is only a few hundred meters from the Lodge.

Hinehopu Golf Club, is a two minute drive from your luxury Rotorua lodge and is available to green fee players. It is a delightful country course surrounded by magnificent bush and high bluffs.

We offer remote river fishing excursions for both the novice and experienced angler. See Rotorua Trout Safaris Ltd.

What people are saying about Wildwood Lodge

"It has a wonderful homey atmosphere! The beds were very comfortable, great outside fire area, wonderful choices for breakfast.
We would've given it a 5, but it's needing some updates, which they are planning very soon. Can't wait to see it when it's done!
We would definitely stay again!!"

"This hotel was FANTASTIC! From the friendly staff to the great room, we enjoyed it all. And at a great price! There were towel art swans on the jetted tub. The room layout was great. The in room jetted tub was the best we've ever used, and I've gotten them in many hotels, some that I paid a lot more for the room. The breakfast in the morning was great. They were preparing the scrambled eggs right in front of us! There is an outdoor firepit that looked very inviting, we just ran out of time to try it"

"The rooms are clean and comfortable! The breakfast choices are outstanding. The staff are professional and friendly. If I closed my eyes, I would swear I'm in a hunting and fishing lodge! All the comforts of home away from home."
